Will DeLuca and Meredith ACTUALLY Get Together in Season 15?
Grey's Anatomy is known for its epic love triangles, especially if it involves Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo). Now that season 15 has officially been declared as the "season of love," who will our girl end up with?
Well, from the looks of the season 15 winter finale, The One for Meredith could be none other than Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti).
But are Meredith and DeLuca together on Grey's Anatomy after that mind-blowing finale? Here's what we know so far.
Since the couple kissed in the season 14 finale, we haven't exactly been on board with the whole DeLuca/Meredith relationship.
However, throughout the first few episodes of season 15, we've been warming up to the idea.
Then in the winter finale, DeLuca finally went for it and told Meredith what he's been feeling since their first kiss at the wedding.
While Meredith ultimately said that she had to think about it, the two got stuck in an elevator together, leaving us with a massive cliffhanger until 2019.
But does this mean that the Grey's writers are setting us up for Meredith and DeLuca to be together for real? Or are they just trying to make the inevitable love triangle with Link (Chris Carmack) all the more dramatic?
Showrunner Krista Vernoff and Gianniotti have a few things to say about that.
Before the finale, Vernoff revealed that Meredith's storyline is coming full circle with the reversal of what happened with Meredith and Derek (Patrick Dempsey) in the first few seasons.
While Derek was Meredith's attending during her internship, the tables have turned, as Meredith is now the attending with DeLuca as her resident.
However, the writers are switching it up a bit to make the whole power dynamic thing a little more appropriate.
We'll have to wait to see how it unfolds, but we can't help but think that all this buildup and parallel to McDreamy's epic romance with Meredith means that Mer and DeLuca will be an item.
And while we're totally here for this right now, according to Gianniotti, not even the writers know exactly what's to come with this blossoming romance.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gianniotti revealed that while DeLuca is done playing around, Meredith is conflicted.
Gianniotti also admits that he doesn't know how this romance will play out and the Grey's team is still developing what their story looks like in the end. But at least it looks like it's progressing.
"I know we are working it day by day. We are doing episode 11 right now," Gianniotti said. "I can't really say where it progresses to but the train is definitely moving forward. There are moments when the train stands still a little bit and it's moving inches instead of miles, but it's definitely pushing forward."
That being said, it's not just moving forward with DeLuca.
"It's also pushing forward for Link," Gianniotti said. "The triangle is still there. It's like a chess game between Link and DeLuca. He might have a move where he beats me and is ahead of me but then I take him later. It's like a push and pull. It will be interesting to watch."
