A Los Angeles gentleman by the name of Popeye the dog once fell upon about as hard a time as it's possible for a pooch to come by. Though an adorable little dude in his own right, Popeye had found himself on the street, facing the harsh realities of life as a stray. That all changed however, the day he met his fur-mom to be, Ivy Diep.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Ivy recounted the tale of finding her future dining partner as a stray. "He was such a mess - super skinny, heavily matted, dirty," Ivy said. Though Ivy already had a house full of other dogs, she and her husband decided to take a chance on Popeye and soon found themselves unable to resist the allure of those big, brown eyes.
Before long, Popeye was making himself at home among his new fur-siblings and it wasn't long before inspiration struck one of Ivy's friends.
Ivy explained, "One of my friends, Jen, suggested that I create an Instagram account for Popeye because he was cute. Jen and I liked to go on what we call 'Instagram dates' and take pics of our food. I'd bring Popeye any time I can, and we realized he was really good around food. He doesn't lunge for food or really even care for it. He just liked to be out. He'll get nibbles of anything that's safe for him. I also carry a bag of treats for him, in case there's nothing he can have."
Sure enough, the restaurant loving low-rider went on to become an Instagram sensation and now boasts over 250k followers.
