Experience the Height of L.A. Culture With Thin Wild Mercury’s Fragrance

Scents hold incredibly powerful memories for each and every one of us.

Without warning we can smell a hot apple pie baking in an oven and immediately begin reminiscing about whipping up desserts in the kitchen with our grandmothers. A salty sea breeze can hit us like a wave crashing on a shore, and we drift off to the most memorable summer of our childhood.

Capturing these feelings isn't easy, but somehow Thin Wild Mercury was able to do that with their collection inspired by iconic locations around Los Angeles during the 1960s and 1970s.

From the romantic Chateau Marmont to the rowdy Whisky a Go Go, Thin Wild Mercury's line of scents give you the chance to travel back in time to some of the most iconic moments and places of L.A. culture.

About Thin Wild Mercury

Created by Cathleen Cardinali, a veteran luxury retailer-turned perfumer, and Anthony Polcino, a lifelong musician-turned designer, Thin Wild Mercury is inspired by particular places in Los Angeles during the '60s and '70s.

The varying scents "are more like nuanced stories redolent of particular places and times of the past eloquently told by musings from the present."

Thin Wild Mercury's name even comes from a 1966 interview Bob Dylan did with Playboy, noting his yet-to-be released album Blonde on Blonde had "...that thin, that wild mercury sound."

This quote resonated with Cardinali and Polcino, who note the aromas in their fragrances evoke the same sort of feeling when bottling "the illustrious history of Los Angeles" in a perfume.

Thin Wild Mercury Fragrances

Currently, Thin Wild Mercury offers four unique fragrances: Laurel Canyon, 1966; Whisky, 1969; Chateau, 1970; and Zuma, 1975.

Each inspired by iconic L.A. locations during significant years, you'll be transported to each setting during the exact era the minute you get a whiff of each perfume.

Laurel Canyon, 1966

Laurel Canyon is woody and earthy, featuring a blend of Italian cannabis, wild fire, petitgrain, jasmine, and "a mysterious patchouli ambergris dry down."

The scent profile is quite wild and enchanting, just like Laurel Canyon in the mid-1960s. You'll feel fresh and free the second you spritz this fragrance on your wrists. It may even inspire you to pack your bags and move to Laurel Canyon.

Whisky, 1969

Sultry, spicy, and electric, this fragrance is inspired by rock club Whisky a Go Go during the legendary decade for rock and roll music.

The cardamom, raspberry, ylang ylang, and oakmoss scents hold nothing back, as they sit "atop a sexy animalic amber." Your inner rockstar is sure to shine through with this smoky and woodsy fragrance.

Chateau, 1970

The Chateau Marmont is one of the most well-known landmarks in all of Los Angeles, and for good reason. With a guest list more high-profile than the Academy Awards, everyone from James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor to Lindsay Lohan and Leonardo DiCaprio have been to the hotel once or twice.

The fragrance itself is a dreamy ode to the romanticism of the location. Sparkling grapefruit and fresh rose mix with a dose of nutmeg and dry woods to create an adoring atmosphere. Inspiration will be released with every spray.

Zuma, 1975

Zuma Beach is legendary in Malibu, so it's more than deserving of inspiring its very own fragrance.

A blend of vetiver bourbon, ocean foam, jasmine sambac, and ambrette musk, you'll be transported back to simpler times with every whiff of this perfume. More than just summer in a bottle, it encapsulates the essence of California surf culture in one breezy scent.
