The Best First Date Ideas for Every Season

Love is in full bloom!
The Perfect First Date for You, Based on the Season
When trying to decide what to do on a first date, many forget to take into consideration the season. Even many publications forget that not all first date ideas work year round.
You can't very well go to a carnival in the winter, nor could you go ice skating on a lake in the heat of summer. That's just not how it works, especially depending on where you're geographically located.
So to help you better prepare for your next first date, we've rounded up some solid date ideas, based on the season.
Whether you're going on a date during spring, summer, fall, or winter, we have some great options for you. Check them all out below!

Spring First Date Ideas
When spring has sprung, the flowers are blooming and the weather is truly delightful. It's arguably one of the most romantic seasons, so all of your first dates will be incredible. Below are a few ideas we've rounded up.
1. Have a Picnic in the Park
No other date activity screams spring quite like a picnic in the park. Romantic and easy, you'll have a great time getting to know your date as you cuddle up on a blanket with some homemade sandwiches and wine.
2. Attend Spring Training
If you and your date are both big baseball fans and live somewhere Spring Training is being held, snag a pair of tickets and cheer your team on from the bleachers.
3. Partake in Some Spring Cleaning
Not the most fun date idea, but a great way to get to know a potential partner. Pull a Marie Kondo and tidy up each other's home.
4. Go Garage Sale Shopping
Everyone is usually giving stuff away during the spring due to spring cleaning. If you're not one to clean and would much rather take in more things than you need, going garage sale shopping is a very cute date idea in the spring.
5. Plant a Tree
Really want to do some good? Plant a tree for Earth Day. If you and your date end up hitting it off, you'll always have that tree to remember your first date by.

Summer First Date Ideas
When the temperature rises, it's time to partake in some activities that'll help cool you off. Or turn up the heat, if that's what you're looking for. These summer date ideas offer an equal balance of both.
1. Eat Ice Cream
What's better than enjoying a creamy pint of ice cream on a hot summer's day? Not much, so why not hit up your favorite ice cream shop or one you've been dying to try with your date? If the date doesn't go as planned, at least you can still enjoy the ice cream.
2. Hit Up the Beach
We know this is a pretty basic summer first date idea, but it's one that hasn't failed us yet. We suggest going during the evening so you can experience a romantic stroll on the beach and maybe end up making out in a lifeguard tower afterwards.
3. See a Summer Blockbuster
Summertime is when all the best movies are released. Though we're not keen on the idea of the movies as a viable first date option, it is during the summer. You won't be able to talk to your date all that much, but sometimes that's nice.
4. Visit a Museum
Summer dates are all about keeping cool, and visiting a museum will do just that. Plus, you'll quickly learn how intelligent or not your date truly is when waltzing through the halls of some incredible masterpieces.
5. Go to a Music Festival
This can be a pretty pricy first date, but an incredibly exciting and adventurous one. If you're both already going to a music festival, that'll make things even easier.

Fall First Date Ideas
The leaves are changing, meaning it's time to update your usual date routine. If you go to the same places, let the transformative fall months remind you to step out of your comfort zone a bit. These date ideas will help you get there.
1. Go Leaf Peeping
Though this sounds somewhat dirty, it isn't. Unless you want it to be, then go ahead and make it. For those who don't know, leaf peeping is essentially driving around to see all the changing leaves during autumn.
2. Visit a Pumpkin Patch
A classic fall date idea and something we all do during autumn anyway, visiting a pumpkin patch is all sorts of fun. There are often a variety of things to do, including picking out the perfect pumpkin to carve for Halloween.
3. Harvest Some Apples
Live near an orchard or willing to drive to one? Why not invite your date to harvest some apples?
4. Meet for Coffee
Thankfully, fall isn't too chilly to venture outdoors. Meeting your date for coffee is always a good idea. And if that's not your thing, get into the spirit of the season and meet up for hot apple cider.
5. Visit a Haunted House
Whether you're hitting up Knott's Scary Farm or doing a little ghost hunting on your own, you're sure to have the best time getting all sorts of spooked with your date.

Winter First Date Ideas
When the weather outside is frightful, time to stay indoors and do something truly delightful. Below, we've pulled together some cozy winter first date ideas for you to choose from.
1. Have a Netflix Marathon
This may quickly turn into a Netflix and chill type of situation, but is that such a bad thing? We don't think so. Watch your favorite show together or turn on something neither of you have ever seen.
2. Go Ice Skating
While you can go ice skating during any month, it's much more romantic and thrilling during the winter season. You can hit up an ice skating rink or visit a frozen lake and skate on thin ice. It's your call.
3. Have a Snowball Fight
Give yourself permission to act like a child and have a snowball fight with your date once the powder has fallen. Once you're done and one of you emerges victoriously, cuddle together to stay warm.
4. Decorate for the Holidays
You can help each other prepare for the holidays by decorating your spaces in all that glitters and sparkles. Have your ornaments at the ready.
5. Bake Holiday Treats
Not a fan of decorating? You can't say no to baking some delicious holiday treats. Even if you're not an expert baker, you can't really screw up cookies all that bad.
