How the January 2019 Lunar Eclipse Will Affect You

Here comes the eclipse!
If Marie Kondo Can't Get You to Organize Your Life, January's Eclipses Will
January is a month for new beginnings.
2018 has gone and went, now it's time to celebrate the arrival of 2019—a year that is deeply creative, sensual, and wildly transformational, at least according to numerology.
And this month is really delivering on those promises, as far as our astrology expert Julie Rader is concerned.
"On January 1st, the planets were aligned in a way supportive to rapid new beginnings for all signs," she tells us over email. "At some capacity, we will all feel a sense of change in our lives or the lives of our loved ones. All of the planets are moving direct in the sky, which simply means no planets are dragging their feet. We have the wind beneath our wings and the planetary motivation to get things moving. There may still be some lingering old patterns needing to be released before we can move forward with ease."
With any luck, this month's eclipses will help us all to release old patterns and get our lives together, especially for those of us who learned nothing from Netflix's Tidying Up With Marie Kondo.
What to Expect From January's Solar and Lunar Eclipses
The theme of January's 2019 eclipses is letting go. Whatever no longer serves you, it's time to do away with it. And if you don't, the eclipses definitely will.
"The eclipses will do the removal of old relationships, careers, homes, patterns, and old limiting beliefs for us," Rader mentions. "If we lovingly release what is no longer serving a positive purpose in our lives, the transition will be much easier than the shock of being uprooted because we've been in denial. As we make space by removing the old, we are presented with new opportunities—the kind of opportunities that radically change our lives. Eclipse energy often involves birth, death, marriage, divorce, moving to a new city, or changing careers."
Even though the solar eclipse took place on Jan. 5, we're still feeling the effects of this powerful cosmic event.
"We are currently in the middle of the two eclipses (solar eclipse 1/5 and lunar eclipse 1/21) which means the veil is thinner," Rader says. "This is a beautiful thing as we can get magical glimpses of what is truly possible."
How the January 2019 Lunar Eclipse Will Affect You, According to Astrology
In just five days, the lunar eclipse will take place and it's a big deal.
Known as the super blood wolf moon (try saying that three times fast), this is the last lunar eclipse of its kind for quite some time. The next one like it won't happen for another 18 years.
If you're hoping to catch a glimpse of this stunning spectacle, it'll be visible from most of North and South America starting around 7:30 p.m. PT. And no, you don't need special eyewear to gaze up at it. That's only necessary for a solar eclipse.
As far as astrology goes, lunar eclipses are all about your emotions, intimate relationships, and your home and family. This month's lunar eclipse in particular will help you reset and get rid of any emotional baggage, but you must let go.
"If our rational mind tries to analyze it, we may feel like we are going crazy—like straight jacket crazy," Rader notes. "However, with the ability to surrender, we can ride the wave of possible synchronistic life-altering moments. As we become really honest with ourselves about what is not working and we courageously release it, a whole new path is unrolled for us in dream-like fashion. Be honest, be brave, and say yes to the exciting new opportunities that follow."
