We chatted with Eric Leslie from Cheeba Chews to get the lowdown on how it came to be, what sets their taffy apart from the other edibles on the market, and more. See what he had to say below!
Women.com: How did Cheeba Chews come to be?
Eric Leslie: From the moment cannabis was legalized in Colorado, we decided to put ourselves on the front lines. For the past decade, Cheeba Chews has been an industry trailblazer in potency, consistency, and discretion. It's our mission to provide consumers with a more reliable and enjoyable edible experience.
The first Cheeba Chew was created in 2009 out of the need to provide medical cannabis patients with a consistently dosed consumable product. Warm taffy blends incredibly well with high grade cannabis oil and evenly distributes the extract so every piece is properly infused. Independent lab testing at three critical stages—the flower, the oil, and the edible—confirmed this consistency and a family of chews were born. Chocolate taffy chews quickly rose to fame by winning multiple cannabis cups and from dispensaries initially requiring patients to sign a waiver in order to purchase the famed "Deca Dose" chew.
Since that initial creation, the company has developed a line of green hornet gummies, and grown to hold legal operations in Colorado, California, and Nevada, along with launching a direct-to-consumer line of hemp infused taffies.
WDC: How are your products different than what's out on the market?
EL: The one-of-a-kind trust in every pack of Cheeba Chews has something for everyone. No matter what you have on the agenda for the day, ‘We Got Chew.' We have Sativas, Indicas, and Hybrids. We have chewy chocolate, strawberry, caramel, and sour apple taffy flavors which are available in Colorado, California, and Nevada. We understand each of us has an evolving preference and taste. Providing the right solution, for the right moment, is what matters most.
We also launched a line of hemp derived Cheeba Chews with a healthy 25mg CBD per chew, available in all 50 states and can be purchased for direct shipping nationwide on our website.
WDC: How did you decide on taffy?
EL: Our taffy recipe has been developed with years of experience, to ensure we're providing a great tasting product in bite-sized pieces, with extremely low sugar and calories in each portion. Taffy is also gluten and peanut-free, and is shelf stable, allowing chews to remain fresh for a long period of time. You can stock up on your chews and not worry about them expiring anytime soon.

WDC: Are there any plans to expand the line or even the amount of flavors?
EL: We started with the original edible, chocolate taffy, about 10 years ago and since then we've added a gummy (Green Hornets™) and chocolate (Dabba™) line, along with caramel and fruit flavors. In the next year, we will be adding a few more fruit taffy flavors to compliment our award-winning strawberry, sour apple, and orange cream flavors.
WDC: What's a common misconception you'd like to debunk about Cheeba Chews?
EL: Since we started in the cannabis industry a decade ago, as a long-standing, successful brand, most consumers believe we're a large corporate entity, which we aren't. The same, small core group of people that started Cheeba Chews is still operating the business today. We've focused on producing the highest quality products for our consumers, not simply growing company profits or gearing up for a buyout. We are intent on setting the brand up for a strong legacy for years to come. The company has been built one solid step at a time.
WDC: What's the most rewarding part about working with Cheeba Chews?
