Abe Weissman (Tony Shalhoub) plays Miriam Maisel's (Rachel Brosnahan) father and a tightly-wound math professor. He can be a bit of a control freak at times, especially for someone who's life is so out of control. It's a good thing he drinks his sorrows away.
Miriam "Midge" Maisel
Midge is a young, upper-middle class, Jewish housewife residing in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. What's the catch? She discovers she has a total gift for stand-up comedy.
As the manager of The Gaslight coffee house, Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein) doesn't tolerate any nonsense. She's a good friend of Midge's, and also becomes her manager when she decides to fully pursue stand-up comedy.
Midge's husband, Joel Maisel (Michael Zegen) eventually leaves her by the end of the first season. He's portrayed as a man who simply cannot handle an ambitious and powerful woman like his wife.
Zelda (Matilda Szydagis) stars as Midge's maid who spends a lot of her time caring for the kids. It's safe to say Midge's life would probably fall apart without her.
Moishe Maisel (Kevin Pollack) plays the father of Joel, Midge's husband. He is also the owner of Maisel and Roth Garment Company.
Rose Weissman (Marin Hinkle) portray's Midge's mother in the series. She's independent and adventurous, often feeling under-appreciated.
