Is Grey's Anatomy Ending After Season 15?
We don't like to talk about it, but this one question always lingers in the back our minds – when will Grey's Anatomy end?
Whether you've binged watched Grey's online or have been following it live on ABC since 2005, there is no doubt how much it has grown on you. From coming to Seattle Grace as an intern to winning a Harper Avery and starting a family of her own, we've watched Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) totally conquer the world.
With season 15 approaching soon, we cannot help but wonder if this will finally be the end. How many more tricks can Shonda Rhimes really fit up her sleeve? If you're a die-hard Grey's fan like us, scroll down to have your questions answered!
What Pompeo Has To Say About Grey's Anatomy Ending
There have been no official statements claiming that Grey's Anatomy will be coming to an end after season 15, but we took a closer look at some hints dropped by Pompeo herself.
In an interview, Pompeo notes that herself, as well as the other masterminds behind Grey's, are starting to think about how to end the show.
"Yes, we're starting to think about how you would end a show this iconic," Pompeo told Entertainment Tonight.
However, it seems that Pompeo is less concerned about when the show will end and more about how it will end, meaning that we won't have to say goodbye to Grey's Anatomy anytime soon.
"How do you end it? But we're not there yet," Pompeo said. "We're going to focus on season 15. We just take it one season at a time."
It seems to be challenging for everyone involved to figure out an ending to a show as phenomenal as Grey's Anatomy.
The best part about all of this is that according to Rhimes, the decision of ending Grey's Anatomy is left in the hands of Pompeo. Rhimes claims that Grey's will continue as long as Pompeo says it will.
Although this makes us a bit nervous, at least we know the fate of Grey's lies in the hands of Dr. Meredith Grey herself! Of course, we are totally bummed to hear that Grey's could be ending soon, but after 15 amazing seasons what more could we ask for?
There Is Still Hope That Grey's Will Continue Past Season 15
Although Rhimes has made it clear that the ending of Grey's will be largely dependent on Pompeo, there are other people behind the scenes making decisions as well. ABC Chief Channing Dungey seems hopeful that Grey's Anatomy has a long and bright future ahead of it. She thinks that the energy of the show has only gotten stronger as the years have passed.
As one of the most popular shows on television, there doesn't seem to be a right time or method to ending Grey's Anatomy. We can only continue to put our faith in Rhimes as we have for the past 13 years. When the end finally does come, will there be tears?
Of course. Grey's has been a huge part of many lives for years now, and we still can't fathom the thought of it ever coming to an end! For now, the excitement for season 15 is the only thing on our minds.
Will Meredith Grey Die on Grey's Anatomy?
Since the longevity of Grey's seems to largely rely on Pompeo and the audience, we do have to question whether or not our girl will want to continue playing Meredith Grey or if she will want to leave and be part of the show behind the scenes.
So, could Meredith die in the seasons to come? Well, it looks like Pompeo had some words to say about that, too.
I know I'm going to survive because there's no show without me, so I never worry how I'm going to survive this. I guess I just worry if the audience will like it," Pompeo said. "We really have the best fans in the world. They just adore everything we do and I don't know how many people are lucky enough to say that."
