You’re definitely lying if you say this one didn’t cut deeper than the rest. The death of Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) AKA McDreamy broke our hearts just as much as it did Meredith’s. Watching Derek lie unresponsive in that hospital bed was the hardest thing Grey’s Anatomy has ever put us through.
When we learned that the John Doe who was hit by a bus was really George O’Malley (T.R. Knight), we almost wish we hadn’t! Meredith broke the news to us and the rest of the doctors completely shattering everyone’s world.
Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) really grew on us. He wasn’t just a patient at Seattle Grace, it felt like he became a part of the Grey’s family. When all of the drama with the LVAD wire went down and Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) held Denny’s lifeless body, we almost couldn’t watch any longer.
Christina Left At The Altar
After all of the chaos that finally led to Christina Yang (Sandra Oh) and Preston Burke’s (Isaiah Washington) wedding, it’s a shame it wasn’t cut short. Watching Burke leave Cristina at the altar really wasn’t easy for anyone. Cristina deserved the world, and it was devastating watching this being taken from her.
Losing Little Grey
Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh) could really get on her nerves, but we loved her spunky personality and adorable smile. Watching her take her lasts breaths after the plane crashed put tears in our eyes, and seeing Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) break down didn’t make it any easier. Not to mention, poor Meredith lost her baby sister.
Derek Getting Shot
This scene was sad and absolutely terrifying. Gary Clark entered the hospital with the intention to kill those that were involved in his wife’s death. He found Derek, proceeding to shoot him which nearly killed him. The worst part is that Meredith had to watch and couldn’t do anything about it.
Cristina And Meredith’s Goodbye
Since the beginning, Cristina and Meredith had the friendship any of us would kill for. They inspired and motivated each other to succeed everyday in the hospital and at home. After watching them grow in every way possible together, the final goodbye between these two had tears streaming down our faces.
April Kepner (Sarah Drew) and Jackson Avery’s (Jesse Williams) loss of their daughter shortly after her birth had us sobbing. We all knew that the baby wouldn’t make it, but watching April and Jackson break down ripped our hearts out. No one will ever get over this one.
The Ferry Crash
Amidst the ferry crash in which the Grey’s doctors are called to the scene, Meredith ends up in the freezing cold water herself. Derek pulls her limp body out of the water in fear that she won’t make it. Watching Meredith fight for her life with Derek by her side was heart breaking.
Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) decides to care for Rebecca Pope (Elizabeth Reaser) after she is released from the hospital and he learns that she’s bipolar. We watched as he saved her life when she tried to kill herself in the shower. It seems like poor Alex will never truly find love.
It was never easy watching Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) slowly deteriorate due to Alzheimer’s, but her death was different. Ellis’ last moments came unexpected to everyone, and was especially hard on Meredith and Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr).
Mark Sloan's Death
The plane crash wasn't done causing casualties. As Mark laid in the hospital bed taking his last breaths, we all knew it was the end. What really made us cry was hearing him talk about how Lexie was waiting for him on the other side. The two would finally be reunited.
