Nydia Velazquez is the first Puerto Rican woman elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. She is also the first Hispanic woman to serve as Ranking Member of a full House committee and the first Latina to chair a full Congressional committee.
Nadia wants to shorten the gap between the rich and the poor in America. She strongly supports establishing a living wage and strengthening the Earned Income Tax Credit. She believes in providing workers with the leverage to negotiate fair wages, health insurance, and safe workplace conditions. She also believes that revitalizing neighborhoods is crucial to improving the local economy.
