Man Comforts Sad Gorilla After Losing Its Mother

A brave park ranger lent a shoulder to cry on after poachers killed the ape's mom.

Photographer Phil Moore captured a heartbreaking photo of a distraught gorilla mourning the loss of its mother by leaning on park ranger Patrick Karabaranga. The image has been going viral on the internet.

The dismayed mountain gorilla calls Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo its home. The species are endangered due to human activities, including poaching and deforestation.

The bittersweet moment demonstrates that humans are not the only species capable of experiencing deep emotions and loss.
