"Sometimes angels rush in where fools fear to tread."
Cary Grant is considered one of classic Hollywood's iconic leading man and a trailblazer in his own right during the Golden Age of cinema. Born Archibald Alec Leach in 1904, Grant was an English actor who swept the silver screen with memorable performances in slapstick comedies including "His Girl Friday," the first film where actors spoke over each other during their lines and essentially all improv comedy, "Arsenic and Old Lace," "Gunga Din," and "The Philadelphia Story." Later in his career, he transitioned into more dramatic roles such as "North By Northwest," "Suspicion" and "To Catch a Thief" which were all Alfred Hitchcock masterpieces. Despite his incredible popular and box office hits, Grant was only nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for 1941's "Penny Serenade" and "None But the Lonely Heart" in 1944 but never won. In 1970, Grant was presented an honorary Oscar for his decades long career and contribution to the world of filmmaking. If you are an avid classic cinema fan then this quiz should be a piece of cake!
