So You're Dating Again? Here's What You Need To Know

Fresh out of a breakup? Welcome to singledom.
Freshly single? Reeling from a breakup? Here's how to get over your past and back on the dating scene.
UNFOLLOW UR EX ON SOCIAL MEDIA

I'm an advocate of unfollowing your exes on social media. You don't need to see what they're up to anymore-- especially if the break up was messy. Who cares what they had for lunch yesterday? Keeping tabs on your exes is a form of self harm! Delete. Erase. Unfollow. Whatever!!
FLIRT

I am not a doctor but I'm a big believer that flirting is therapeutic. Flirt without any end goal. Flirt with everyone. Flirt with the grocery bagger, the post man, men, women. Have you ever seen a giggling baby who has the attention of an entire room full of people? That baby is flirting! Flirting brings you joy. Smile. Laugh. Light up a room. Charm it. Bring that energy into your life and watch the ripple effect it has into your relationships and your mood. A broken heart can put you in a dark place. Flirt your way out of it.
RELISH IN YOUR NEWFOUND FREE TIME!!

Single? Most likely you have a lot of free time now. Know the difference between being lonely and being alone. Sure, you might be lonely at first. That's completely natural. Acknowledge it. Then do something about it. Make a list of your hobbies. Go to a used book store and buy cool books. Cook yourself an amazing dinner and eat it on your best china. Pamper yourself. Have a girls night in. Pee with the door open.
DATE YOURSELF FOR A BIT

You don't have to get right back on the dating scene once you're newly single. Most likely, your friends will be encouraging you to get drunk, hook up with guys, or go out with their cousin, or coworker, or neighbor who they swear is "perfect for you!" When you're fresh out of a breakup, it's a great time to date yourself. For a long time, your identity has been very closely linked to someone else's.
BUT IF U REALLY WANT, ONLINE DATING IS AN OPTION TOO

But if you want to, there are plenty of apps available to you. Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge can all help you swipe your way into the arms of a new significant other.
NO PITY PARTIES

Don't feel bad about yourself or your breakup.
Important disclaimer: having a boyfriend isn't any better or worse. Being single isn't any better or worse. Life is still the exact same either way. Each lifestyle has their own set of problems. Sometimes it's the exact same set of problems. A lot of people in relationships wish they were single. A lot of single people wish they were in relationships. Wherever you are right now--- it's exactly where you're supposed to be.
Happy dating---whether it be with yourself, or someone else. <3
