Shania Twain Wins Award, Slays As Usual
CMT honors this country queen with the award of a lifetime.
Since we were little jelly-sandal-wearing girls jamming out on our Sony walkmans, Shania has been our queen. The look, the sass, the perfection-- she's always had the entire package, am I right?
Well, CMT agrees. This year, Twain will be the first female recipient of the Artist of a Lifetime award at the 7th annual CMT Artists of the Year celebration on October 20th. Joining the clan of men, Shania will have her name listed alongside legends like Kenny Rogers and Merle Haggard. Twain has collected a total of five Grammy's, sold over 75 million albums and has remained the top-selling female country artist of all time. Her 1997 album titled Come On Over is the number 1 country album and top-selling female album in any genre. Does that impress you, much?
The 2016 awards, presented by Ram Trucks, will air as a 90-minute special on CMT jam-packed with explosive performances and toasts to honor the artists of the year. Among the other winners, you'll find several familiar faces: Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, Thomas Rhett, and Luke Bryan. To win this honor, you have to be among the top performers dominating the world of country music. These chart-topping artists have sold out venues across the nation and have claimed their home on country radio for 2016.
Join fellow country die-hards on October 20th at 9pm ET/PT to welcome our girl to the hall of fame.
