Man Gets Boobs As Part of Bet, Plus More
Today we've got: a man gets boobs on a bet, some U.S. news abroad for your political palate and Britney Spears gives us life
1. Taliban Leader Killed In U.S. Air Strike
The Short of It:
Today, President Obama confirmed a U.S. drone strike killed Taliban leader, Mullah Mansour over the weekend.
The Longer Version of It:
The U.S. strike targeted the Afghan Taliban leader, found in a remote area of Pakistan, this past Saturday. During his visit to Vietnam, the president confirmed the death and stated it was an "important milestone in our longstanding effort to bring peace and prosperity to Afghanistan." Mansour played a key leadership role in organizing the Taliban and other groups such as Haqqani Network and al Qaeda who had committed various acts against U.S. forces and other coalitions.
The Tid Bits:
In the many years the U.S. has aided Afghanistan in fighting against the Taliban, the U.S. located and killed al Queda leader and founder, Osama bin Laden. Recently the U.S. has tried to assist the Pakistan government in maneuvering a peace deal with the terror group, but might be on thin ice with Pakistani leadership after failing to let them know about the attack until after it happened. The thing is, just a few years ago when the U.S. killed bin Laden, Pakistan wasn't given the heads up either, so they're not feeling tickled pink about being left out of the dark again this time around. On the other side, the U.S. isn't excited about the lack of progress they feel Pakistan is making to fight against the Taliban.
Mansour became a huge roadblock for peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban. His death could mean less work to get everyone on the same page and allow U.S. to ease out a little more in their role in Afghanistan.
2. A Man Got Breast Implants After Making A Bet
The Short of It:
A man made a 6-figure bet with a friend and got breast implants.
The Longer Version of It:
Brian Zembic is a Canadian magician who has made a profession out of high-stakes gambling, specializing in blackjack and backgammon. Back in 1997, Zembic made a bet with friend during a vacation in Europe. “I was with two friends and his girlfriend at the time was flaunting her boobs,” Zembia said. “And I said to my friend, ‘If I had boobs like hers I could get just as much attention as she would.’”
His friend asked just how much money he’d be willing to be paid in order to prove it. The two agreed on $100,000 and Zembic left his vacation and headed to New York to visit a plastic surgeon, who is also a gambler. After playing against the plastic surgeon in a couple of rounds of backgammon, Zembic won himself a free pair of 38C implants.
“The first time I showed my friend, he laughed for 10 minutes and said, ‘That is the best $100,000 I’ve ever lost,'” Zambia said.
Nearly 20 years later, the original terms of the wager has Zembic still holding onto those implants: for every year he has them he gets an additional $10,000 .
