News that Kanye West was hospitalized yesterday resulted in an outpouring of well wishes for the rapper from fans.
West was taken to UCLA Medical Center Monday after the remaining dates for his Saint Pablo concert tour were unexpectedly canceled.
According to CNN, the rapper is being treated for "exhaustion."
His admission to the hospital came after the rapper had been making headlines for several days because of odd behavior he had displayed on stage at his various concerts including rants about Jay Z and Beyonce and the chance that he would have voted for Trump if he'd actually gone to the polls. He also ended one of his concerts early after coming onto the stage an hour late.
Fans and celebrities have expressed concern for West and his mental state on social media.
The outspoken artist is well known for being anything but conventional. His thoughts on politics, race and the music industry are often vocalized by him on various platforms including social media, talk shows and even concerts. But the behavior Kanye has displayed in the past several days had piqued the concerns of fellow celebrity and fans.
"He's not just an artist but he's a father, a son a husband and above human," actor Marlon Wayans tweeted about West. "Get well soon."
West recently sat down for an interview with design magazine Surface and shared his opinions on everything from education, his refusal to compromise and his view of Utopia.
"I don't think people are going to talk in the future," he said. "They're going to communicate through eye contact, body language, emojis, signs. Imagine that. If everyone was forced to learn sign language."
He also shared his belief in "empowering people."
"I don't want to give you anything as definitive as 'always do this,'" West said. "It's about finding a balance between being the person who knows the most and the person who's the most naïve.
