After years of wondering which one of Rory Gilmore's ex-boyfriends she'd end up with, fans were pretty peeved to find out that the answer wasn't as simple as they'd hoped.
Rather than finding adult Rory in a perfect relationship with Dean, Jess, or Logan, the highly-anticipated revival Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life instead revealed that Rory was casually sleeping with Logan. All of this despite his being engaged to someone named Odette and her being in a relationship with a character she kept forgetting about. While many fans were quick to get judgy-judge on Rory for her adultery, Alexis Bledel revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that she's not ready to judge Rory on her complicated relationship.
"It did surprise me," Bledel told ET. "And I think it's a little uncomfortable for [Rory] even though she's kind of putting on a brave face that she's fine with it. I think she's actually not that emotionally connected to it. I think she's kind of just going through the motions at this point when we pick up with them."
Matt Czuchry who portrays Rory's love interest, Logan, also defended the term of the characters' new relationship.
"I think they were both in the same place at the same time," he said. "Rory and Logan have always had a love for each other that has gone back and forth, and they've never really wanted to say goodbye. They're both in the same place at the same time in this particular story, so it's a mutual relationship that they're carrying on."
Considering the four words the series left on, that "mutual relationship" is bound to get a lot more complicated.
